Supplier quote comparison inputs

01 Set a common comparison brief

Use one product family, one quantity unit, and the same specification and delivery scope. Required fields are marked *.

3-letter currency code.
Optional; used to check quote expiry and FX dates.
Calendar days; compare the same start conditions. Transit is separate.

02 Enter the actual quotations

Use a decimal point and no thousands separators. Enter the quantity each supplier actually quoted; prices are not extrapolated to another order size.

Add at least two quotes, or load the clearly labeled worked example.

Formulas and comparison assumptions
  • Goods cost = quoted quantity × net quoted price ÷ common units covered by that price.
  • Known quote total = goods + entered setup + freight + additional quoted tax + other charges. Blank charges remain unknown. Enter 0 only for confirmed none or amounts already included in the unit price.
  • Comparison cost = known quote total × your entered exchange rate, expressed as comparison currency per 1 quote currency. Foreign quotes need a rate and reference date for ranking; no live rates are fetched.
  • Cost per ordered unit = comparison cost ÷ actual quoted quantity. Cost per required unit = comparison cost ÷ your required quantity.

Use the same unit throughout. For a price quoted per 1,000 pieces, enter 1,000 as the price basis. Convert rolls, packs, weights, or other units to your common unit before entering them. Do not assume a price remains valid at a different quantity.

The full quoted order cost is compared. Extra stock receives no assumed credit; storage, financing, losses, and future demand are outside this calculation. Quotes with missing costs, unconfirmed scope, insufficient quantity, or failed entered constraints are excluded from cost ranking.

Expiry is checked only when the comparison date and validity date are both entered. A lead-time limit checks production days only; confirm the starting event and transit time. Missing commercial information still needs review.

Calculations retain exact decimal fractions. Totals use the browser's currency precision; normalized unit costs show six decimal places. Ranking uses unrounded values, so very close totals can display the same rounded amount.

Compare costs alongside samples, supplier capability evidence, quality requirements, and commercial terms. This plugin does not save entries. Export your report before leaving the page.
